What can group admins do, and what does the group link do?
Admins manage the group. The person who created it is an admin, and an admin can make any other member one.
What admins can do
- Rename the group and change its photo and description.
- Remove members.
- Promote other members to admin, or demote them.
Adding people is not admin-only: any member can add someone. People who are blocked are skipped when adding.
What the group link does
The share link identifies the group — it is useful for pointing an existing member at the right conversation. It does not let anyone join: a non-member who opens the link sees nothing. The only way into a group is to be added by a member.
Anyone can leave a group at any time without permission. A removed member loses access to the conversation from that point on.
